RmNet Drivers Press Release

MCCI Delivers RmNet USB Host Solution

ITHACA, N.Y. and BARCELONA, February 16, 2009

MCCI Corporation, the world’s leading developer of USB connectivity for the mobile phone industry, today announced the delivery of RmNet PC host drivers to mobile phone vendors. RmNet is a proprietary USB virtual Ethernet framework developed by Qualcomm for its mobile phone platforms. RmNet provides for improved throughput via the Thin Layer Protocol (TLP) and allows for Quality of Service flow control, which is necessary for a quality end-user experience in today’s mobile network environment.

According to Terry Moore, CEO of MCCI, "Our RmNet driver further enhances MCCI's industry-leading support for the Qualcomm platform. Our customers can now enjoy the enhanced features of RmNet while retaining the production quality they have learned to expect from MCCI. MCCI thinks that this will further allow our customers to offer exciting integration applications on Windows, and soon on other platforms."

Mobile network operators are increasingly requiring handset manufactures to support faster data rates that improve ease of use for their customers. RmNet addresses this need. Ease of use is improved because Windows sees the phone or datacard just as it would an Ethernet cable plugged into a wall socket. No longer must the customer worry about dial-in numbers and cryptic modem settings. MCCI USB PC host driver products increase end-user product value.
